Bountiful Baskets

Bountiful Baskets, have you heard of them?  I hadn’t someone at work mentioned it and because my family and I enjoy fresh produce, we decided to give it a try.  Here’s how it works:
Bountiful Baskets is a food co-op that distributes baskets of produce (fruits and vegetables, regular and organic), as well as artisan and sandwich breads, every other week throughout local neighborhoods.  They have no employees and are strictly operated by volunteers to help get fresh produce to families at a low cost.  You make a contribution online, through their website and then you go to the distribution site you chose to pick it up on the scheduled date and time.  All you have to do is bring something with to carry your produce home in.  Here is what our contribution got us the week we tried it:

We had a nice combination of peppers, tomatoes, celery, potatoes, spaghetti squash, limes, bananas, berries, nectarines and even a bag of apples.  I was very pleased with the quantity and quality of what our baskets contained and it is definitely something we will be trying again.
